Narragansett Turkeys

We got our original gobbler and hen poults in 2008 from Mosher Pointe Farm in Falmouth, Kentucky.  Their parents were breath-taking at first site and as my wife stood petting one of the hens, four HUGE toms were strutting around us making a loud "thumping" sound, their wings extended and dragging on the ground and their tails fully fanned out.  It was a sight to see and we had to have a few ourselves.

We can say that raising young turkeys is more enjoyable than chickens.  They seem to be more people friendly.  They loved to be held that is the wife's department.  She usually has one or more with her in front of the TV.  As I write this one is sitting on her shoulder as she moves around the house.

We plan here in 2009 to expand the flock and sold a few poults.  If you are interested in Narragansett Turkeys we are sold out for 2009 already.  The demand was more than we thought for this breed in the area.
